Heading swiftly into February on the 6th-7th we have Essential Supervision Skills again but this time in Manchester. This popular and highly demanded course always sells out so please book early, we hate to disappoint you when the course is fully booked. Book by Monday 8th January and also benefit from the early bird price! http://www.skillsdevelopment.co.uk/seminars.php?courseid=114

On the 22nd–23rd February we are starting our 2018 BPS Approved Certificate in Third Wave CBT, commencing with Compassion Focused Therapy with Clinical Psychologist, Dr Chris Irons.

CFT is a research-based therapy founded on a combination of principles from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Evolutionary Psychology and Attachment Theory. It was developed to work specifically with clients who had high levels of shame and self-criticism and who had early experiences of poor attachment, affiliation and affection. By developing care and affiliative focused motivation, attention, emotion, behaviour and thinking CFT addresses these problems. Key skills with CFT include the use of compassion focused imagery, the development of a compassionate self and the use of a sense of a compassionate self to engage with areas of personal difficulty.

This highly regarded CFT training can be taken as an individual two-day course or as a part of the popular CERTIFICATE IN THIRD WAVE CBT, Approved by the British Psychological Society for the purposes of Continuing Professional Development.

Third Wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapy has become one of the most powerful therapeutic developments within the last 15 years. Our modular Certificate Course is designed to provide both an up-to-date theoretical overview of a selection of Third Wave CBT approaches along with their practical application within a range of practice environments. The full Certificate focuses on four separate modules relating to Mindfulness, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy. These different Third Wave approaches are integrated via an additional online presentation exploring the meaning and contradictions within these approaches. There is a particular focus on practical issues, problems and dilemmas within each Third Wave approach and how they can be successfully addressed.

All Third Wave Certificate modules are available to attend either in person or via Live Interactive Webcast, so take a look at the full details by following the link below:

These two Master Practitioner Diploma modules are extremely valuable as stand-alone courses but to take them together is even better. Our esteemed trainer, Clinical Psychologist Paul Grantham, has made a short video outlining how CBT can help your clients who are at risk of self-harm or suicide. Quite simply it’s training that anyone who works with troubled clients can’t afford to miss. Follow the link below to hear Paul explain why.

We very much look forward to working with you in the forthcoming weeks.

About this Blog

This is our first attempt to join the exciting world of blogging and bring to you all the fresh and hot news about the world of psychology and, of course, about your favourite training company. This is our new enterprise and we are finding our way in this mysterious world of blogging cautiously (but surely...) :-)
We are hoping to move our popular SDS Delegate Debate into this blogging format in the future and looking forward to lively discussions here with you. We are planning to start with publishing already existing SDS Delegate Debates — with comments received from you. Then we'll move to the current news as well as will run new delegate debates there.
Feel free to leave comments to any of the posts — whether they are old debates, the news or new debates. As you can guess — every blogger loves his readers and LIVES for the comments. :-) We are just the same. You don’t need to register in order to be able to comment. You can leave your feedback as “Anonymous”, however, may we ask you to sign you name (or nick) at the end of your comment (even if you are commenting without logging in) so that we know how to address you.
Another useful tool that SDS Blog provides us with is availability of Polls that enable us to find out your views about various subjects. Polls are located on the left panel of the page and updated regularly. Please feel free to vote. You can see the results of each poll by clicking the button "Results".
If you wish to register — nothing can be easier — you just open a Google account — most of you, surely, already use one.
Your comments are read by SDS Consultants regularly and — in many cases — replied to.
The blog is moderated — mainly to protect you and other readers from spam and irrelevant comments.
All posts are tagged — hopefully it'll help you to find your way around there.
Wish us luck and please join the list of our followers.
